The vast majority of experts agree that lower back pain is often related to spending too much time in a seated position. Unfortunately, much of today’s workforce calls for many of us to do just that — sit! Not only do we sit while we work, but we also sit while we’re commuting to work, during our meals, and while unwinding after a long day. There is no denying that we spend a lot of time sitting.

Sometimes it seems like the only time we aren’t sitting down is when we’re moving to our next seat! When you think about it, it’s no surprise that lower back pain is a growing problem. Here are our suggestions to help with back pain from over-sitting.

Our Suggestions to STop Over-Sitting

It’s pretty unrealistic to stop sitting all together — besides the fact that too much standing can also cause pain. However, there are some steps you can take to reduce the strains of sitting.

  • Get up and stretch your back and legs every hour
  • Change your position frequently
  • Set an alarm on your phone as a reminder to take a short walk every 45 minutes
  • Take periodic interval breaks throughout the day

By taking on these easy tips, you will reduce the negative impacts that over-sitting has on your back. If you are suffering from back pain that just won’t go away, click here to contact us. Our team of chiropractic professionals have the knowledge and experience to help you back to great health!
