Chiropractic Tips for Coronavirus
By now you’ve most likely been impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. You may have had to struggle with finding supplies like hand sanitizer and toilet paper or have spent hours scrolling through social media. But what exactly is coronavirus and how can you protect yourself?
CORONAVIRUS 101
Coronavirus usually affects certain species of animal and COVID-19 is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans. The symptoms include, but aren’t limited to the following:
- Cough
- Fever
- Breathing difficulties
- Shortness of breath
Symptoms typically don’t start to show until a few days after exposure, but like most viruses, there are precautions you can take.
WASH YOUR HANDS
Hand washing is your first line of defense against illness-causing germs. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends using hand soap and water and to wash for at least 20 seconds. If no soap is available, an alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also acceptable.
AVOID TOUCHING
Avoid touching your face, eyes, or nose with unwashed hands. If you’ve been sharing a computer or phone, working outside, or using your hands to open doors, be sure to wash them before touching your face, scratching your nose, or wiping your eyes.
STAY HOME
It doesn’t make you any tougher if you go to school or work if you’re feeling unwell. We’re sure your coworkers, boss, teachers, students, etc. would prefer you stay home if you’re under the weather. Rather than coughing and sneezing around other people, stay home and get better.
COVER UP
If you are coughing or sneezing (it is still allergy season, after all!), grab a tissue to sneeze into or use the crook of your elbow to cover up.
SPRING CLEANING
Now is the perfect time to get started on spring cleaning. Whether it’s at home or in the office, wipe down computers, keyboards, and your mouse with disinfectant. You’ll also want to disinfect countertops, doorknobs, and any other area that people commonly come in contact with.
