Get Back On Your Feet!
Neck pain, back pain, body aches, and more — injuries from slip and fall accidents can cause lasting pain. Chiropractic is an effective and natural treatment that can help. Here are some tips to keep in mind following a slip and fall.
ASSESS YOUR INJURIES
A slip and fall might not seem like a big deal, but it can certainly leave its mark. If your movement is hindered or you are in extreme pain after a slip and fall accident, seek out immediate medical assistance.
If your injuries aren’t severe, they can still be more serious than you think. Be sure to make an appointment with your chiropractor after a slip and fall, even if your spine isn’t in a great deal of pain. Your spine has the responsibility of carrying the weight of your entire body, and even minor changes in the way you move due to an injury can cause your spine to overcompensate, causing greater issues.
Our years of experience allow us to create custom treatment plans unique to your needs based on the severity of your pain and bruising so we can help you get back to feeling great!
START HERE
After a slip and fall, the first thing you should do is take a deep breath and get your bearings. This allows your body to adjust to what it just went through, which will make you more stable as you stand back up.
Once you’ve returned to your regular routine, keep in mind that you may need to make a few adjustments (and we aren’t just talking chiropractic adjustments!). For example, until swelling and stiffness have subsided, avoid intense exercise and over-exertion. As you get back to your workout regimen, take it easy and try doing less repetitions or using lighter weights.
The key message to take away is to listen to your body. We can’t tell you how many patients we’ve seen that rush back to their regular routine after an injury without allowing their bodies to heal properly. Pain doesn’t always reflect your overall health and wellness, but when your body is hurting, listen to it.
HEAL NATURALLY
Swelling and inflammation are a natural part of the healing process. Instead of trying to eliminate that process, modify it. In the first few days following a flip and fall, try incorporating ice therapy into your routine. Simply put an ice pack on the injured area for approximately 15 minutes, then remove it for an hour and repeat as needed. You can also take advantage of natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric, garlic, and ginger. Chiropractic care is another excellent tool to use if you’ve been injured, and a healthy nervous system will promote the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
It doesn’t matter how athletic or agile you are, sometimes slip and fall accidents just happen. The good news i that there are steps you can take to reduce negative side effects, improve your body’s ability to heal, and get back on your feet!
